Business Manager

Join the Rochester Prevention Research Center: National Center for Deaf Health Research (NCDHR), a CDC-funded program dedicated to improving health and preventing disease among Deaf sign language users and individuals with hearing loss. As the Business Manager, you will play a leadership role in managing research projects, supervising staff, and fostering collaborations within the community to support impactful, community-based, health equity research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administration: Oversee daily operations, staff supervision, and resource management. Manage hiring, budgets, performance evaluations, and reporting to funders. Ensure an accessible and productive cross-cultural work environment.
• Coordination & Collaboration: Coordinate projects and resources across internal and external collaborators. Build strong partnerships with community stakeholders, URMC departments, and external organizations.
• Research Management: Supervise research project planning, data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Oversee compliance with human subject protection, data management plans, and IRB protocols. Contribute to scholarly publications, presentations, and grant proposals.
• Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance to research staff, trainees, and junior faculty. Ensure compliance with regulations and support staff skill development.

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in research project management and administration, or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and familiarity with healthcare delivery for Deaf populations.
• Fluency with American Sign Language (ASL) and willingness to improve ASL skills.
• Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS) and database management (Excel, Access).
• Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage teams effectively.
